this is perfect place...

...to blab. pardon :P

so like, i am so tied to a point in time and space right now. which is my desktop/ terminal. its a 21.5" samsung screen that can take any input. also has a digital tuner, so u can connect an antennae to it. anyway, its mounted on the wall behind my setup. so i guess you could say my terminal i've been tied to has been a point on a wall, for a while.

an idea is to sometimes get away of course, which i am not so good at. i think with the schizophrenia part of my diagosis, i am kind of hyper prone to addictions, so dopamine, oh, its a formidable beast. but yea, like the board games, that was an attempt, and i can still get back to that as time goes, but so far, it has been thwarted :x

well, soon i'll have a completed 'mobile' setup of anything i could ever need in the aspect of computing/ data/ processing needs/ requirements.

at core, it will be made up of 3 thinkpad/ laptops. i think the newest one is like from 2012 tho. the oldest, looks to be from ~2003 i believe. so allow me to "geek out" hehe. the most powerful one, has upgraded ram (wanna say 16)and an ssd, and a seperate hybrid 'hdd' in a removable tray. it also has a dvd/ cdr drive removable too. once i got that thinkpad (t430), i upgraded/ maxed out the cpu, and i upgraded the screen to a higher resolution (1080p now) and also 'ips' screen. that upgraded required like an adapter board to be installed behind the screen. i tried downgrading the kb to an older model's / more comfortable kb, but i was not up to task, i think, to such a custom mod, and i failed :(. i also added another cheap ssd to a third removable 'tray/ drive' to use for keeping windows installed, but only having to put that drive in, when i wanna run windows ;P

the next oldest is a thinkpad t400, and the reason i got that, is because it had libreboot already setup on the bios. it also came setup with a linux config'd for a 'free' system, i imagine. the libreboot is like free/ open source firmware that controls (or interfaces with?) your hardware i think. that kind of means, its based on a communal understanding of teamwork and trust, or like, you could say, 'honest work' but without pay i guess. for the common good/ interests. anyway, i'm really blabbing.

libreboot is kind of like a safety measure so if corporations that control the hardare at the source of production, cannot reach into your hardware anymore, at that firmware level of the hardware (i am referring to like bios. sorry if i didn't specify that earlier)

well this last computer that's like 20+ years old, is also the newest joining my setup. I am upgrading my setup to physical/ floppy media. in the form of the iomega zip 100meg and 250meg format. getting an internal drive for desktop that reads the zip disk 100/250's as well as an internal drive that will be going into the oldest thinkpad and newest addition to my setup.

my idea is to start doing more of my thinking type writing digitally and less on paper. but the floppy (zip) tech is so old, i had to get a really old lappy that could work with it.

anyway, the thinking is to relieve myself of this wall terminal, and start mobilizing my spaces i guess. or at least see what happens. and i think i'll feel better keeping my data stuff offline, in this case as 'floppies,' while being able to access them from my desktop or the oldest of the 3 thinkpads.

blah blah blah

thanks for letting me geek out a little bit.

[EDIT]

The newest thinkpad addition is like an r40. it was like budget/ midrange in 2003 if my recollected research serves me. it should also have all the old ports like serial and parallel and stuff. so like my palm organizers (pda's) may really like this old laptop. i have 2 retro palm's. one color/ rechargeable. and an older, greyscale that takes aaa's i believe. the older of the two, i tried my hand at a soldering project on it. i replaced the battery (cmos?) not sure what it may be 'called' but it keeps the data alive for a few seconds while you change the 'aaa' batteries (2). so my first (and only, so far) soldering attempt was successful, and now i have a soldering iron. +1 soldering :P

blab bla...

[EDIT 2]

I have a mobile drawing tablet too, i keep with the t430 in that laptop bag. that wacom tablet happens to be bluetooth although it's a bit smaller than the more professional, tho old (circa ~"series 1 art") wacom tablet that i've used up till now. I can't even remember having 'used' that smaller / mobile setup before. but the screen resolutions of this wall terminal and the thinkpad t430 are both 1080p, altho a size difference between 21.5" vs 14". i may have tried the smaller config before. memory can be a funny thing sometimes.
