settling into the linux spaces a little too nicely~
"what those are bumps ?"
and i set it up to read zip 100 and 250 meg disks. and it works in linux. can't say the same for the desktop attempt, but i got as far as i could with that and left things like that for now. this ibm thinkpad (r40) is like a pentium m i think. i think that's kinda like a pentium 4 but i don't remember and i didn't try to research it, soo..
this r40 can only get online with an ethernet (corded) connection to the internet tho. no wifi or anything in this setup. but like, i've already tried the modern such incarnations of 'distraction free' devices, in the 'freewrite traveler' and the 'alphasmart 3000'. these characters:
but i'm thinking an offline thinkpad beats that. and i'm thinking to explore what the linux/thinkpad spaces could maybe offer, basically. and this r40 that can handle these 100/250 disks happens to be the kewlest thing to me right now.
so i post. oh, and i decided to see if this r40 could handle composing this post. the sd worked with the card reader dongle, trusty thing, so my photo transfer is intact. it took a while, but I got one of my logitech trackballs to pair with one of my logitech unifying receivers (their usb wireless dongle). and it was a pleasant experience. ahh, linux. ahh thinkpads.
hehehe, and yes, i have an ethernet cable between router and r40 at the moment. this will not become 'a thing' :P
