~maintain the devices~ (ipod)

This old ipod I must have had for like 20 years or something has been through a lot. I modded it some time ago, but its since undergone some damage and needed some work to fix. I finally ordered some parts, and they came in the mail today. Yay projects. They keep me young. (I'll keep telling myself that, ok?)

My ancient ipod 5th gen (video), along with the new parts.
I had basically modded it with a black button/wheel, and black power switch/ audio jack. Bigger back case, to hold a larger battery, which I put in it. And a board that will hold 4 microsd cards to replace the 30 gig hdd this original sported. (EDIT: Also added the clear front cover, obviously (in first mod))
Seen better days. And will see better days again :D.
Hell of tricky working with the tiny screws, but I got the new power switch and audio jack installed in the back case.
that power switch/audio jack assembly attaches to the mainboard with this little ribbon cable here.
I'm only using one of the slots now, with a 256gig microsd card. Room for upgrades? Ummm, affirmative.
It did start up after my repair/maintenance project, but would not play music. I thought my card may be corrupted.

I tried updating the firmware (Rockbox) and that worked, so my last setup ipod collection is back. So my music is sufficient without depending on phone/streaming. Have now a radio (portable and desktop) and now this ipod again. Yay. Now, what next? Well. I think some relaxation is in order :P.
