kinda wanna share~
like, my thinkpads have gone a little bit further basic now. they are all 3 (t430, t400, r40), running window managers now instead of desktop environments. this effectively means no more xfce (de) and also no more cinnamon (in the case of the lmde distro i've had on thinkpads sometimes). this means my linux's are much lighter on ram and resources, and a lot more simpler and basic than a typical desktop environment that I've been using for a lot of the past years. at least on the laptops*
the desktop tho, is like an i5-7600k. so like a solid 7th gen intel i5. I'm only just now beginning to jump into terminals more often on 'this' desktop. cuz of the laptops, u know. it's nice tho, like the good 'ol days of linux :P i have fond memories of linux phases in life. and things like that.
so like i couldn't get the pda sync software for the palms working on the r40 (that has the iomega stuff), because I assume, that is a 32 bit. so the r40, as slow or capable as it may be, it cannot carry the whole load, hehe. t400 has my palm iiixe syncing tho. the palm iiixe is prefered device, because that takes aaa batteries. and the flaw it came with when i got it that it lost all data when changing batteries... i fixed, by soldering a new battery to the mb.
the palm os gives warnings when the battery gets low, to change them, to minimize data loss/ risk. and the battery i replaced/ soldered keeps the data 'alive' long enough to replace the aaa batteries. so if i can make it a part of my daily systems/ routines, i'll stay on top of that. and as well the syncing to the thinkpad t400. that's another, long term backup/ storage of the data. tho that won't backup data of apps u add to the palm. for that, i can transfer that data to the other palm t|x and i have a 2gb sd card in there i can back the data up to, then whenever, i could backup that sd data however i want.
ya know i think i will install a wm on this desktop. share the vibes ;)

[EDIT}
did have help with getting the sync software working. woot.
[EDIT 2]
i didn't specify above, but the palm t|x does not lose it's data if battery dies, and it is rechargeable instead of battery changing. it's been acting weird tho, and crashes when i try to do certain things. the palm iiixe is just better, imo. more retro (grey scale in this case) == better :P
